My compost pile is getting really rich this summer! And the cucumbers are growing up that three sided support and producing like crazy; the tomatoes are weighing down the vines; all this rain may have caused problems for many but the gardens have loved it! Janet

Great article. I do gardening here at home and our neighbors all talk to each other as we are outside, but having an entire community garden would be wonderful.
I'd especially like knowing where the community gardens in Kansas City are located. Perhaps by somehow creating that kind of a map, more people would be encouraged to participate.
Thanks again! Janet

As an Environmental Scientist, I feel this article clarifies the need for sustainable food production and consumption. The author of this article does a great job in explaining the environmental benefits of consuming locally grown produce. To the readers of this article, heed Ms, Richardson's advice, consume local, sustainable produce to help support environmental health!
