Make Your Own Homemade Flavored Vinegars

Creating and infusing your own vinegar is a easy and exciting hobby.  When you have friends or family over it is always great to have something that sparks great conversation.  Making your own vinegar is defiantly a way to do that!  Making your own vinegar won’t cost much more than buying it at the store--and often times you already have the ingredients the add already in your home.

Here is what you will need and a few recipes that you can use to make your own homemade vinegar

Supplies

Empty white wine bottles  750ml
Wine cork
White vinegar
Variable ingredients


Okay let’s make some flavored vinegars.  


PEPPERED BASIL VINEGAR


  1.  Fill vinegar into a empty wine bottle
  2. Add one teaspoon of whole grain pepper corn
  3. Add two whole cayenne peppers
  4. Add four leaves of whole fresh basil
  5. Cork your bottle

Setting

  1. Set in your cupboard or a fairly dark place
  2. Let sit for 2-3 days
  3. Shake once a day to increase infusion of flavor


RASPBERRY LAVENDER VINEGAR

  1. Fill vinegar into an empty wine bottle
  2. Add  two cup lavender stocks
  3. Add 1 cup of whole raspberries
  4. Add a pinch or cane sugar
  5. Cork your bottle

Setting

  1. Set in your cupboard or a fairly dark place
  2. Let sit for 2-3 days
  3. Shake once a day to increase infusion of flavor

ROSEMARY
-GARLIC VINEGAR


  1. Fill vinegar into empty wine bottle
  2. Add two whole rosemary branches about 4'' long
  3. In four pieces add a whole garlic bulb
  4. Add the zest of one lime (optional)
  5. Cork your bottle
Setting
  1. Set in your cupboard or a fairly dark place
  2. Let sit for 2-3 days
  3. Shake once a day to increase infusion of flavor

Here are some other ideas to think about and experiment with!  Some are crazy and who knows maybe genius! Only you will know.  

Lemon- Sage Vinegar
Orange- Thyme Vinegar
(Bac)onion Vinegar
Tomato-Pepper Vinegar
